Speed is a major factor that determines the fuel consumption of your vehicle. There are few simple tips and knowledge that will help you understand why occasionally your vehicle’s fuel consumption varies high or low.
Try Smooth Driving: Aggressive or rash driving i.e. high speeds and using the brakes hardly increases the fuel consumption.
Avoid Extra Baggage: It might be interesting to hear that extra load/weight/baggage on vehicle causes variations in fuel consumption. The more weight on the vehicle, the more fuel will be consumed to maintain momentum.
Avoid idling: When in a queue, on a long traffic signal or if waiting for someone, it’s better to switch off our vehicle and reduce the wastage of fuel consumption. Idling is one of the major reasons for your tank getting emptied quickly.
Avoid High Speeds: The faster you go the more wind resistance is encountered by your car and hence, more fuel is consumed to maintain that speed against that resistance. Driving just a few miles per hour on a highway or fast track can improve fuel consumption.
It goes without saying that a well maintained vehicle will give a better performance. Ensuring your vehicle’s oil is changed on regular basis and the engine is serviced and tuned frequently helps you save fuel.
